What is Keyboard?    

     Keyboard is the most common input device of the computer. It looks like a type writer machine. It has different types of keys. It contains more than 104 keys. A keyboard is used to type letters, numbers and special symbols. Without keyboard user cannot fulfil any types of works in a computer. A keyboard has an important role in a computer or laptop.

Types of Key.

Normally a keyboard has 5 types of keys.

1. Alphabetical Keys.
2. Numerical Keys.
3. Arrow Keys.
4. Functional Keys.
5. Special Purpose Keys.
   
   
   

Alphabetical Keys

    There are 26 alphabetical keys are represented in a standard keyboard. These  keys are

 numbered from A to Z or a to z. They are used to type name, address, letter, application etc.

Numerical Keys

     There are 10 numerical keys are represented in a standard keyboard. These  keys are

 numbered from 0 to 9. They help to enter slno, amount , Aadhar no, mobile no etc.

Arrow Keys

        They are otherwise called cursor movement keys/navigation keys. There are 4 arrow keys are represented in a standard keyboard. 

They are:

ç :- Left arrow key

è :- Right arrow key

é :- Upward arrow key

ê :- Downward arrow key

Functional Keys

        There are 12 functional keys are represented in a standard keyboard. They are numbered from f1 to f12. Each key has a different function in different applications. Out of  that 3 keys function is fixed when it individually use i.e 

F1:-Help and support

F2:-Rename 

F5:-Refresh

Special Purpose Keys

        The keys which are performs a special effect in a computer is known as special purpose keys. such as

Esc key:- This key is used to return back of dialog boxes, text boxes etc. It has an important role in Tally.

Tab key:- This key is used to jumps the cursor 8 character at a a time.

Caps Lock:-This key is used to capitalizes all alphabets when the shift key is unhold.

Shift Key:-This key is used to capitalizes all alphabets when the the caps lock is off.

Ctrl:-(Control Key):- It is a combinational key. It performs an effect when it combine with another key. Like

                        ctrl+a:-all select

                        ctrl+c:-copy

                        ctrl+p:-print

Alt:-(Alternatives):-It is also a combinational key like ctrl key. It performs an effect when it combine with another key but it active the menu bar and tabs of application.

                        Alt+ctrl+del:-Restart

                        Alt+f4:-Shut down

Space bar key:- It is the largest key of the keyboard. That gives space between to words.

Enter key:- It creates a new line.

Backspace key:- It erases character from left side of the cursor.

Del key:- It erases character from right side of the cursor.

Home Key:- This key is used to move the cursor to the starting of a line or sentence.

End Key:- This key is used to move the cursor to the ending of a line or sentence.

Page up :- This key is used to move to the previous page.

Page up :- This key is used to move to the next page.

                

    

Classification of Computer.

    On the basis of size, model, style and function computer is classified as three types such as.

1. Analog Computer
2. Digital Computer
3. Hybrid Computer

Analog Computer

        Analog Computer is the computer which process analog data. That means the data which is the form of continuously and does not discrete values. In analog computer data or information's are directly accessed. This types of computers are used to measure the physical quantities and other measuring tools. This types of computers are used in engineering and scientific labs.

Ex:-Speedometer, thermometer, voltage, length etc.

Digital Computer

           In digital computer all types of inputs are converted into a particular binary form i.e. 0 and 1 that means in only reads digital data with non-continuous format. It performs arithmetic as well as logical calculations. Now-a-days digital computers are much more used in day to day life. It executes different types of instructions within a short period of time. It is very faster than analog computer.

    
   Hybrid Computer

        Hybrid computers utilizes the qualities of  both digital and analog computers. Hybrid computers are accept analog signal and convert into as digital signal. In this computer calculation take place in analog manner and the rest works are done by digital manner, Simply it is the collection of both analog and digital computer. Hybrid  computers are specially based used in Hospitals like  Operation Theater, ICU for measuring heart beat, blood pressure, ECG, EEG, Ct Scan, PET-Ct Scan etc.

Difference between Analog Computer and Digital Computer

• A software is the set of instructions that directs the computer. 
• A software is the collection of line of codes.
• Software is also the collection of programs written in any high level programming languages.

• Programming Software
• Utility Software

System Software

    The software that runs the entire system is called system software or the software which is required to operate the system is also called System Software. It acts as an interface between the user and machine. It co-ordinates the operation of the various hardware development of the computer system. System software runs all application software of the computer.

Ex:-dos, windows, Linux, UNIX, apple, android etc.

Application Software

    The software which is used for only a specific purpose is called application software. It is shortly called "app". All the application software's are control and managed by system software.

Ex.ma paint, MS word, MS excel, tally etc.

Programming Software

    It another type of software which is used to develop new software's. All the software's are are used in different purposes. It discovers both system,application,utility software's.  They are generated by different high level programming languages.

Ex:c,c++,java,html,.Net,php etc.

  Utility Software

    The software, that protect and secure from unknown person is called of our personal device is called  utility software. In other words utility software is also called antivirus software.

Ex:- K7, Net protector, Eset,Quick heal etc.

     

why it is called computer?

 Why, it is called "Computer"?

      The word Computer has been derived from a Greek word "Compute" which means to "calculate". So that it is also called a calculating machine. It performs two types of calculations such as arithmetical and logical calculations.

    Arithmetical calculations are addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

    Logical calculations are >,<,>=,<=,= etc.
